Democracy
17 Sep 2025True goodness
is like water.
Water’s good
for everything.
It doesn’t compete.
- Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching as interpreted by Ursula K. Le Guin
Democracy
is based on the premise
that in order for one person to win
another must lose.
The principle
of competition.
Democrats vs Republicans
women vs men
blacks vs whites
immigrants vs natives
poor vs rich
environment vs industry
urban vs rural
us vs them.
In every election
we vote
to see whose turn it is
to be the loser.
At least it seems better
than the old days
when some of us were losers
all the time.
But as with any good competition
the competitors want to put together
an undefeatable team
a winning dynasty.
So the natural outcome
of any Democracy
is its own demise.
Democracy
is not a big enough story anymore.
Competition
is not a good enough strategy.
The Earth is willing
to lay down her life
to get us to stop.
Can you find the world
behind your illusions
where there is
no them
only us?
When you do this
there is nothing left
to vote for.
Only people
to support.
